some things never change

You know those friends that you have forever?
The ones that you have gone through EVERYTHING with.
The ones that no matter how long it has been since you last saw each other you can catch up and have fun just like always, like you never missed a day together?
I have two of those friends and I just love them dearly.
It started in 7th grade. We were inseparable all through junior high. We would have sleepovers, parties, go to dinner, movies, EFY, basketball games, Utah games...you name it, we did it. Together. (We even had some rough patches through the years!)
Since junior high we have all three changed, moved on and grown up. But through it all I still consider these two amazing girls two of my very best friends.
Amanda is married and now lives in Arizona while her husband is going to Medical school and Stacy is married and lives in Kansas where her husband is making movies and the like. It is crazy to see where life takes you.
We keep in touch through emails and Facebook and every once in awhile we get together in person.
Yesterday was one of these occasions. Stacy and Amanda are home for Christmas so we planned a lunch date. It was so much fun to be with them again and catch up on old times and get updated on the present. I look up to these two so much! They are such good examples to me. Both married in the temple and strong in the gospel, working hard and happy.
When I grow up I want to be just like you guys!
I love you Stacy and Amanda!
Thanks for always being my friends!

finito

Today is my last day of school for the semester! I am so excited. I am much in need of a break. I think that I will be all recharged and ready to go again in January. I swear I just started and was so stressed out I didn't know if I would survive. Now, I have a whole semester done! Probably 4 more to come, but it still feels good to have one done!

I have really enjoyed learning a lot and growing. I have had some amazing teachers and made some great new friends. I feel like this is where I am supposed to be and I am excited to continue on in January. But for now it is break time!

24

That's right
Almost a quarter of a century.
Here are some of the celebrations...
Purple and orange, my favorite colored flowers from my dad.
Dinner with some friends at Settabello's, a favorite of mine
And of course gellato after. Pistachio of course, my favorite.
Dinner with the family and my 9 favorite kids on Sunday.
My favorite cake. Rainbow chip.
Unfortunately this year we had a mishap. Wrong parts oil and water will do that! Thanks anyway Kristy. Better luck next year!
Overall it was another great birthday!
Thanks everyone who helped make it that way!
I love you all!

Body Worlds

Last week my friend KaDee and I went to the Body World Exhibit at The Leonardo. It was awesome! I love stuff like that. I love knowing how the body works and seeing how taking care of your body is a good thing. And how not taking care of your body is a bad thing. Some of the things will really surprise you! I would highly suggest that everyone goes to see it. I believe it ends the first week of January so you still have some time! Unfortunately you are not allowed to take pictures inside so if you are curious you will just have to go! Well worth it! Check out the website. It will make you want to go! Or maybe creep you out. Either way, GO!

Jackson Hole

Friday morning after all the Thanksgiving festivities were over me, Kristy and my dad headed up to the cabin for a short little get away. It was so nice up there! We ate at the fish place on the way up and then just went to the cabin and lounged around the fire. I got some scrap booking done and made the family Christmas cards. Two things I would not have been able to accomplish in these next two weeks because all of my time from now until December 12th is going to be dedicated to finishing nine huge school projects! Then, we went to Jackson Saturday and the square was so beautiful all lit up with a slight snow fall. It was awesome! We ate at a little Italian restaurant I always have wanted to try. I could only talk my dad into it since I used the excuse that it was my birthday dinner. It was yummy and fun! I am glad we went there. I don't think my dad will ever go again though because it was kind of pricey. Oh well! At least I got to go once! Sunday we packed up and came home. It was a great little much needed break!

randomness

Blog overload, but I just have somethings I wanted to say and some things to catch up on... Here are some of the happenings in my life. (in no particular order!)

Tomorrow is the day! Really, who is not excited about this movie? I can't wait! I am not going to a midnight showing, I have to be a responsible adult and I have school tomorrow so that would not be a very good idea! But tomorrow night at 5:45 pm I will be enjoying it. I saw Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson this morning on the Today show and I have to say, I was not very impressed by them. They were both pretty lame (I am sure that will offend people) but I just did not love them. I am just keeping my fingers crossed the movie is half way as good as the book.

Saturday is the day too! It is here, the BYU vs. Utah game! I am pretty excited about this! I sure hope Utah wins. Undefeated is awesome, a place in the conference is awesome, bowl game in Vegas (hopefully) is awesome! They really need to win! GO UTES!!!

I love the temple. I like to go there. I like to be there. I try to go often. This morning I went with my dad and the Young Men and Young Women in my home ward. It was neat to have my dad baptise me. Usually when I go it is just a temple worker that will do the baptising, but it was a nice change to have my dad there. He is great!

I love this CD! I love the Love Story song, but there are a ton of other good ones too! I wasn't sure if I should buy it, but I am glad I did! I heard on the radio this morning that it is doing really well in sales too. For sure a good purchase.

I love all things pumpkin! Pie, muffins, bagels, ice cream...This is the delicious pumpkin cheesecake I had this week at the Cheesecake Factory. A bunch of friends went there to celebrate Jesse Merkley's birthday. It was fun! Happy Birthday Jesse! Too bad I only took pictures of the food, not the people! Oh well, next time!

This is Shelby. I love her. Me, Sophie, Amanda and Shelby had a lunch date last week. It was so much fun! I love when we get together! It is always fun! We are planning on doing it at least monthly. I am glad!

After lunch we went to Sophs parents house to look at her wedding pictures. They were GORGEOUS! I loved them! Soph and Isaac looked amazing! Seriously, some of their pictures could be in magazines! We hung out there pretty much the rest of the afternoon. It was a fun day! Thanks girls!

Sophie's wedding photographer, Sy Snarr (who is amazing) gave her this picture of a cute little Italian man for a wedding gift! How precious is that?! Makes me wish I was there. (Actually I wish that pretty much everyday!)

Shopping in Park City. What more needs to be said!? Actually, 2 things...this is not ALL my stuff and, if you have not been to Park City lately you should go. They have 2 great new outlets that I love, J.Crew and Aldo. Amazing!

School is almost over! I have one day next week and then off for Thanksgiving. Then I only have 2 weeks left! I have 100 things to do between now and then, but I am excited for a little break. Then January 5th it will all start again! I am mostly excited about being done with my drafting class. Let's just hope I pass so I don't have to take it again!

Cupcake Frosting (best ever)

Everytime people eat these cupcakes they want the recipe.
The cake varies, but this frosting is the best everytime.
It goes on any kind of cupcake.
Can be any color you want.
And works great with every tip out there!

Enjoy!

2 teaspoons vanilla
pinch of salt
1/4 cup heavy cream or milk

Put butter in an electic mixer and turn on low.

Clark Time

I know what many of you are thinking with that title...but don't worry!
I saw a commercial last night with Chevy Chase in it and it made me so excited to watch this little movie. I love Clark Griswald!
Yes, I agree, it is a little bit raunchy, but for sure one of my favorite holiday movies!
Let's have a movie night and watch it!

Can't wait for Christmas time!

create

I love to make things.

All kinds of things...scrapbooks, journals, cookies, bread, color boards, cupcakes, dinners, parties, photographs...anything I can just do with no limits I love.

Suzi Bates, the creative mind behind my favorite creative company Just Be used an inspiring quote that I fell in love with on the spot...

The dreamers are the saviors of the world....Composer, sculptor, painter, poet, prophet, sage these are the makers of the afterworld, the architects of heaven. The world is beautiful because they have lived; with out them, laboring humanity would perish.

-James Allen ' As A Man Thinketh'

I am ready to go make something!

Chicken Dance

My cute little niece Avery is in a dance class.
This is Avery at her Halloween performance.
Pretty stinkin' cute!

{Baby Shelby}

I went to lunch last Friday with my dear friend Amanda and her beautiful little baby Shelby.

It was so good to see them!
I love Amanda!
I love Shelby!
She is so darling!

It was so fun to see them both!
Thanks so much Manda for the lunch and the great company.

And thanks for sharing baby Shelby with me!

Love you both!

HSM

Last weekend I finally watched High School Musical. 1 and 2. Yep, it's true. Both in one night. Don't worry, I was doing homework at at the same time. I had been wanting to watch them for a long time and since 3 is coming out tomorrow I figured now was as good a time as any!

It's true, I loved them! I love movies like this. Fun, carefree, not a lot to think about, good, clean shows.

I can't believe I waited this long!

Broadway Across America

Play #1 - The Rat Pack

Kristy and I along with my aunt Diane and my cousin Vicki got season tickets to the Broadway shows in Salt Lake for the 2009 season. We did this for one main reason, to get tickets to Wicked. Our price for 4 shows ended up being about the same as what tickets to just Wicked are going for.

Our first show was last Thursday night. It was the Rat Pack. It was actually really fun! At first I was sceptical but it was really good!

The Rat Pack featured the hit songs by Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin. They sure don't make music like that anymore!

{Me and Kristy at the Pie}

{Vicki and Diane at the Pie}

We started our night out with some yummy pizza from the Pie and then headed to Kingsbury Hall for the show. It was a super fun night!

Thanks Ladies!

Here is where it begins...

We're here to end it,
I said & she said, No,
we're here to begin it
& then she turned &
opened her arms
& everywhere I could see,
there were people,
like bright birds, calling
with a thousand voices
& suddenly I understood.

Here is where it begins.
With all of us, together
giving our daughters
a world worth loving
for a lifetime to come.

Three years ago, almost to the day (last Friday actually) the most incredible person I have ever or will ever know passed away from breast cancer.

My mom was the best example for me. I learned so many things from her in the short 20 years that I got to spend with her. I am so thankful for the time I had for her to teach me how to cook and clean and do what I need to do to one day hopefully become like her. I am so thankful for the lessons I learned from her not only when I was growing up but the last few years as I saw her struggle through chemo, radiation, surgeries...and all the horrible things she had to go through. Not many people can do what she did and still have hope in their heart and put a smile on their face. She did. She did it everyday for over four years.

Not a day goes by that I don't think of my mom. Everything I do I do for her. I do it because of her. Because I want to be like her and because I want to make her proud. I hope that one day I will be even half the person she was because even half of what she was is better than most.

Starting today you will be seeing a lot of pink around town because October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. At my mom's funeral everyone in my family wore pink, even the boys wore pink ties. My dad has had a hard time with the color pink since then but is slowly coming around. I have decided that I am going to wear something pink everyday this month. I am going to buy pink M&M's to put all over the house. I am going to make pink desserts. I am going to do whatever I can to make people see that this can affect EVERYONE. It is not always someone else. So many people are affected by breast cancer it's sad. I am going to do my part this month and always to remember those who have had their lives taken from this horrible disease and think about those they have left behind.

I love you mommy!
