Chicken Dance

My cute little niece Avery is in a dance class.
This is Avery at her Halloween performance.
Pretty stinkin' cute!

{Baby Shelby}

I went to lunch last Friday with my dear friend Amanda and her beautiful little baby Shelby.

It was so good to see them!
I love Amanda!
I love Shelby!
She is so darling!

It was so fun to see them both!
Thanks so much Manda for the lunch and the great company.

And thanks for sharing baby Shelby with me!

Love you both!

HSM

Last weekend I finally watched High School Musical. 1 and 2. Yep, it's true. Both in one night. Don't worry, I was doing homework at at the same time. I had been wanting to watch them for a long time and since 3 is coming out tomorrow I figured now was as good a time as any!

It's true, I loved them! I love movies like this. Fun, carefree, not a lot to think about, good, clean shows.

I can't believe I waited this long!

Broadway Across America

Play #1 - The Rat Pack

Kristy and I along with my aunt Diane and my cousin Vicki got season tickets to the Broadway shows in Salt Lake for the 2009 season. We did this for one main reason, to get tickets to Wicked. Our price for 4 shows ended up being about the same as what tickets to just Wicked are going for.

Our first show was last Thursday night. It was the Rat Pack. It was actually really fun! At first I was sceptical but it was really good!

The Rat Pack featured the hit songs by Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin. They sure don't make music like that anymore!

We started our night out with some yummy pizza from the Pie and then headed to Kingsbury Hall for the show. It was a super fun night!

Thanks Ladies!

Here is where it begins...

We're here to end it,
I said & she said, No,
we're here to begin it
& then she turned &
opened her arms
& everywhere I could see,
there were people,
like bright birds, calling
with a thousand voices
& suddenly I understood.

Here is where it begins.
With all of us, together
giving our daughters
a world worth loving
for a lifetime to come.

Three years ago, almost to the day (last Friday actually) the most incredible person I have ever or will ever know passed away from breast cancer.

My mom was the best example for me. I learned so many things from her in the short 20 years that I got to spend with her. I am so thankful for the time I had for her to teach me how to cook and clean and do what I need to do to one day hopefully become like her. I am so thankful for the lessons I learned from her not only when I was growing up but the last few years as I saw her struggle through chemo, radiation, surgeries...and all the horrible things she had to go through. Not many people can do what she did and still have hope in their heart and put a smile on their face. She did. She did it everyday for over four years.

Not a day goes by that I don't think of my mom. Everything I do I do for her. I do it because of her. Because I want to be like her and because I want to make her proud. I hope that one day I will be even half the person she was because even half of what she was is better than most.

Starting today you will be seeing a lot of pink around town because October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. At my mom's funeral everyone in my family wore pink, even the boys wore pink ties. My dad has had a hard time with the color pink since then but is slowly coming around. I have decided that I am going to wear something pink everyday this month. I am going to buy pink M&M's to put all over the house. I am going to make pink desserts. I am going to do whatever I can to make people see that this can affect EVERYONE. It is not always someone else. So many people are affected by breast cancer it's sad. I am going to do my part this month and always to remember those who have had their lives taken from this horrible disease and think about those they have left behind.

I love you mommy!
