Lion King

August 19, 2010

Last show for the year
at Capitol Theater.

The Lion King

I loved it!
It was very different than any show I have seen.
It was fun.
There were a few new songs that I really liked too.
New meaning ones not in the movie.

Theater night with the girls.
Always a good time!

Thanks ladies!
I am already looking forward to next season!

Last Sunday I got released from my calling
as the Relief Society President.

I felt it coming a little bit.
It has been a year.
But I was not sure with all the changes what would happen.

I had mixed emotions about it for about a week.
But honestly,
I feel really good about this.
I feel like it was time.

Time for a change for the ward.
Time for a change for me.
Just time for change.
And growth.

I am excited to see what the future holds for me.
I am excited for the new presidency.
They will do great things!
And this calling will do great things for them.
I know it did for me.

Today at church people asked me how I felt my first day off.
My answer to this question was,
I feel really good.
A few people said that that means I had done a good job
and the Lord was pleased with me.
I am not sure how true that is,
but it made me feel really good.

I have learned so much
and grown so much.
I am thankful for the opportunity I had to serve these sisters.

I am thankful for the love and appreciation I now have
for the wonderful organization of the Relief Society.
It is here for a purpose.
And I love it.

This has been a great experience.
Something that I will never forget.
It has changed my life for the better.

Remember when I signed up for this?

Then had problems with these?

And got super busy with this?

And didn't do enough of this?

Well, this
{only the half, luckily}

is tomorrow!

Wish me luck.
I need it.

Last Saturday night we headed up to Kristy's cabin
up Big Cottonwood Canyon.
Sort of last minute,
but spontaneity is fun!
We grabbed some Cafe Rio on the way
and then ate it outside when we got there.
It was a beautiful night.
We played games.
Walked around the lake.
Ate lots of treats.
Sort of watched a movie.
Had a great time!
Thanks Kristy for inviting us!
{Eric . Adam . Me . Jared}
The spare key was missing when we got there so Kristy had to go meet her dad to get one.
So the rest of us walked around the lake.
It wasn't just me and the boys the whole time.

{See, Kristy and Amber were there too}

Nice Yard

Two of my brothers won Community Pride Yard Awards.
I am so proud of them!

{I maybe think it is a little bit funny too!}

The best part of being Downtown for school and work
is getting to go to lunch with people.

Wednesday after my last big day of school
Adam and I went to lunch at Red Iguana.

Adam is going to PA school in Maine.
He was home for a week or so.
So that calls for celebration!
It was so fun to see him and catch up.

I had never been to Red Iguana so it was fun.

Since he is the out of town-er now I made him pick.

Thanks Adam!
It was a delightful afternoon!

Last Thursday morning Rebecca left for school in Texas.
I was sad.
I still am.
But, this is a great adventure for her,
so I am excited.

We went out to dinner Wednesday night to have a little fun before she left.
We had more than a little fun.
We had a lot.

Good luck Rebecca!
Love you tons!

Can't wait to come visit!

We ate dinner at Biaggi's.
Then went to PF Chang for dessert.
But she had to get it all in before she left Utah!

Last week we had Kristy's baby shower.
We did it at Meridith's
and it turned out lovely
if I do say so myself.

I took the day before off of work.
I had been too busy with school
to get everything done I wanted to do.

I could get used to not working.

I love to just be home.

I am so excited to meet baby Eliza!
I have ten neices and nephews already.
But Eliza already has a special place in my heart.
Something different about her being my sister's baby.
It's different than brothers babies.

Here are a few pics of the day.

going away

{Jamie . Me . Rebecca . Kristy}

Rebecca is going to Texas Tech.
I don't like to talk about it really.
Let's just pretend it's not happening...

We had a going away pool party Saturday night.
It was tons of fun!

the state of being certain. complete assurance.
sureness of occurrence or result. inevitability.
something that is assured or unfailing.
greater certainty than circumstances warrant.

In Relief Society on Sunday I learned a new word.

I love this new found word.
It sounds like a combination of

Pretty good combination, right?

A lot has been going through my mind the past few days.

And I mean
a lot.

Change is coming in my life.
I know it.
School is almost over.
Life is changing.
My routine is changing.
I don't know all that is coming my way.
Sometimes I wish I did.
But, I know someone has a plan for me.

I don't have my own plan.

I need to get one.
I think December is so far away,
but it will be here before I know it.
In four months I will be all done with school.
Then what?

Change my ward.
I have been there for four years.
Change my house.
I have been there for 25, soon to be 26.
Change my job.
I have only been there for a short time.

I don't like change.

I like it once I get used to it.
But the initial blow of it hurts sometimes.

It's hard.

Sometimes I have to remember,
change is inevitable.
It will come.
And I will get through it.

I had a chat with a friend the other night and he said to me...

"What's the hardest thing you have been through?"

That of course led to much conversation about life.

And how things happen.
And how we deal with what comes our way.

All I know is there is a plan for me.

I know that if I live how I should,
and do what I know is right,
good things will come.

A very wise man once told me
when I asked him

"what more can I do?"
he said...

"You are doing all you can do. You are in the right places, doing the right things, meeting the right people. Good things are coming your way."

I am thankful that I have the certitude in my life that things will work out.

Everything happens {or doesn't happen} for a reason.

I am truly grateful I believe that.

So, as change comes my way.
I hope to be able to embrace it.
I hope to move forward with the certitude that I will be okay.

And things will work out.

Step Up Three

I finally saw it.

Tuesday night.

I know I should have been home doing homework.
But hey,
it's summer.
I can't do homework ALL the time.

I decided since I worked on my studio project for four hours I could have a little break.
And, Adam helped me with math after the movie.
So it's all good.
{have I mentioned I don't love summer school?!}

so the movie.

Not my favorite Step Up.
I loved the dancing in it.
And she is darling.
And he is just as good looking,
if not better,
than the other main guys.
I just feel like the story line was slow.

The main thing I didn't like was the 3D.
I just don't like 3D movies.
Aren't all movies 3D?
I don't need glasses to have the dancers all up in my face!

Overall, I liked it.
It's cheesy, predictable and pretty much like the other two.
But I love to see a good dance off.

And I loved even more
a mid-week break from school.

KaDee and Riley got engaged Friday night!
I am SO excited for them!

KaDee has been my best friends for years.
We have been through a lot together.

I couldn't be happier she found Riley.
They are perfect for each other.

Love can still happen!

Looking forward to November 5th!

Seven Peaks

Friday a bunch of people were going to Seven Peaks.
I had to work.
Last minute
I decided to head out of work early and go!
It was tons of fun!
It was my first time ever to Seven Peaks.
I am a little afraid of those slides,
but I did them all!
We had a blast!
Thanks Nate for putting it together!

song for thought {like food for thought}

I love me some itunes sessions.
Acoustic is my favorite.

Kristy text me the other day
and told me about a new Colbie Caillat song.
Of course she had reason to tell me about this song...

I looked it up,
and of course,
downloaded them all.

I tried to find a video of the one Kristy told me about
but I could not.
I think it might be a cover song.
Anyway, I have listened to it a...few times.

Love Colbie Caillat music.
Love this song.

It's called...
Bullet Proof Vest

What are you trying to hide?
You won't let me inside.
The fear's only in your mind.
I can see it in your eyes.

And I try to get through to you,
But I don't know what to do.
You're making it hard
To get to your heart.
And it seems these days,
That everybody wears
A bullet proof vest.

If love is a blank dart
Shot from a heart-shaped gun,
It only hurts you
When you try to turn and run.
When will you see
That you don't need
A bullet proof vest?

Please take it off for me.
I won't shoot,
I'll let you breathe
I wanna feel you feeling me.
Oh, baby, love is all.
Don't bleed.

And I try to get through to you.
I don't know what to do.
You're making it hard
To get to your heart.
And it seems these days,
That everybody wears
A bullet proof vest.

If love is a blank dart,
Shot from a heart-shaped gun,
It only hurts you
When you try to turn and run.
When will you see that you don't need
A bullet proof vest?

I got lots of other good stuff this weekend.
Maybe I will share some more.

There is just something about a good song
