Gotta love pre race photos!

Not sure which are worse, pre or post!

It has come and gone.
My second half of the year.
Top of Utah
in Logan.

I really like this race.
This was my second time running this one.

I headed up Friday right after work and went straight to packet pickup.
Kristy decided not tor run
and Jen and Dan were coming up at 4am Saturday
so I headed up by myself.

Mekelle met me at packet pick up.
She was not planning on running either.
What is with all these people backing out?!
But luckily she decided to just do it.
I was glad!

This woman started talking to me at packet pickup,
and an hour later we finally left.
This woman was an inspiration to me!
She was telling me all about her weight loss journey
and how she had lost 130 pounds!
This was her first half marathon
and she was nervous.

She said this to me,
"If I finish, I win"
I loved that.
All she cared about was crossing that finish line.
No matter how long it took her to get there.

We went on talking some more and she then said that
"No one can stop me but me"
And that is true in more aspects in life than running.
Almost anything we want in life can be achieved
as long as we don't hold ourselves back.
Almost anything.

After a good inspirational pep talk from a stranger,
Mekelle and I headed to Tiffany's for a bbq.
We didn't eat there.
I don't think bahama mama hot dogs from Maverick are the best pre race dinner.
But it was fun to see everyone and chat for awhile.
Then we headed to Firehouse to eat some pasta
and then to Mekelle's to get to bed.

5am came really early!
Luckily I slept pretty good.
We got ready and made our way to the buses.
We met Jen and Dan and headed to the starting line.

The wait to the start of the race was not too long.
And the weather was nice so it was not bad.

The race started and we were on our way.
Mekelle and I stayed together the whole time.
It is so much more fun to be with someone.
Neither of us were super prepared but we kept pretty good pace.
We came in just under 2 hours and 20 minutes.
Not my best, but not my worst.

After the race I just headed home.
I am glad I ended up doing this run.
The thought did cross my mind to just not do it.
But I did,
and I am glad!

I just showered and relaxed the rest of the day.
Then went to dinner, a party and hot tubed.
It was a nice day!

{3am Sunday was not so nice when I woke up with food poisoning or a flu bug. But by Monday morning I was feeling 95% better. So glad that came Sunday and didn't cause me to miss the race. I do not get sick very often. I am not very good at it! Glad that is over with!}

Saturday was the Sugarland concert.
I gave this one to Kristy for her birthday.
We grabbed some dinner with Ben and Eliza before
and then went out.

Sara Bareilles opened.
I think I was more excited for her.
And I think Kristy and I were in the minority of people who even knew who she was!

Even with a little wind and rain we had fun!

Saturday night I deactivated my Facebook account.
No real reason.
It was just time.

It is such a waste of time.
And it is so stupid to look at people's profiles

it's gone for now.
Hopefully it stays gone for a long time.

So if you are minus a friend,
don't be offended.
I did not delete people,
I deleted myself!

"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul...We each have in inherent wish to create...The more you rely and trust upon the spirit, the greater your capacity to create."   -Dieter F. Uchtdorf

One night last week
when I was not sleeping,
I had a little anxiety thinking about how I have lost my creativeness.

so maybe it's not lost.
It's just not as apparent as I would like it to be.

I could not remember the last time I did something creative.
Something I really love.

With no school projects,
no time to scrapbook,
or other crafts,
no showers to throw,
no spare time to cook or bake,
and working full time,
my creative side has been pushed aside.

And that made me sad.

I feel like creating is part of who I am.

So I decided I needed to remedy this problem.

The next day my friend Jen asked me to go help her decorate her house.
I was happy to help!
I miss that.
Haven't done it yet,
but it's in the plan.

Also that night Kristy was decorating cookies
for a bridal shower she was having.
I went and helped her.

I love decorating cupcakes,
but cookies was new for me.
It was fun!
Even though some of them may have looked like a 12 year old fluted them!

Then this week I decided something else that is part of this
missing creativity; cooking.
So I am trying to make dinner most nights.
And I want to bake more.
I made cupcakes for Laci's baptism
which was the first time in a long time I had made cupcakes.

I then decided to make cake balls.
I have been wanting to make them
and just talked about them with Mike.
Explaining them to someone does not do them justice!
So I decided to make some for him to take on a road trip.
They turned out as delicious as ever!

I feel like the next step is to get my photos together,
either scrap booked or digitally together in a book.
I am just a tad bit behind...
Italy was the last thing I did.
It's okay,
there is no time like to now get creating!

I am going to try and do something creative every week.
I need it in my life!

Happy creating!

Yesterday at church
one of the speakers said something I am pretty sure was directed right at me.

Something that I needed to hear.
Right then.

She was talking about obstacles and about how we need to 'stay in the boat'.
Things may get tough, but we need to stay in the boat and not jump ship.

What I really loved went something like this...

Sometimes the Lord puts obstacles in our lives to see how long we can keep going.
He does not do this to be mean,
but to make what's at the end of the course worth it.

I loved that!
And I needed that.

Saturday was a funny day.
{funny may not be the best word choice, but it will do}
One of those days that so much happens
and you don't know what to do about any of it,
that you kind of get a head ache.
So to hear that on Sunday
really put things into perspective for me.

All the silly things that are going on in my life right now
are just little obstacles,
getting me to the point that when I reach the end,
it will be well worth it.

This was also a reminder to me
that the key to getting past these obstacles is patience.
Something that if you know me,
you know I do not have a lot of.
But I am working on it.

Because I know
the end result will be worth it.

Bishop Crosland

I have said it before.
And I will probably say it again...

One time I had the most amazing bishop.
And I think he will always be my favorite.

Last week was his birthday.
So on Wednesday night there was a surprise party for him.
How many singles throw their bishop a birthday party?
Their former bishop at that.
He's just that great.

it was a fun little get together
Thanks Stef for putting it on!

And thanks Croslands for being so great!

{don't judge my look, I just came from the gym}

Kayla and I went to the Tim McGraw concert last Saturday.
This was my first time seeing him live.
I will say he is not the best live performer.
Or maybe just the sound was off.
But we had fun anyway!

Cute little Laci got baptised on Saturday.
It was a lovely day.

I just love her!

Rice Wedding

Last Friday was Eric and Rebekah's wedding.
It was a long awaited union!
But it was worth it!

Congrats Eric and Reebs!

Jared and Jason were decorating their bedroom
so they invited me to come along before the reception.
It was mostly just fun to hang out and catch up with those two.
I feel like it had been awhile since I have seen them

Here is the result...

Then we headed to the reception.
Eric and Reebs looked adorable.
It was a nice outdoor reception.
The weather was perfect!

Congratulations Eric and Reebs!
Love you!

Sometimes my boss goes out of town.
Sometimes he leaves us a list of things to do.
And sometimes these lists are very long.
Shouldn't we get a break too?!
Just kidding.

He was out of town last week for a few days.
And the list was long.

And the list was very time sensitive.
Like 99% of it had to be done in the 3 days that he was gone.
Lots of promotions that started this week.

we decided he owed us!

the list of demands.

-Ruby Snap
-Lunch at La Caille {we were willing to waiver on the location}
-A paid day off
-Any other demands that we thought of at a later date

We slapped this right over his calender behind his computer.
We hoped Keith would not be mad when he came back.
And he was not!
He thought it was funny.

But yet,
not one demand has been fulfilled...

{Choose} Love

August is choose love.

Pretty simple.

Choose to love all things.
Every day.

And choose to be loved.
And to let love happen.

This month I will choose love.
