2nd Annual

Bowl-A-Palooza













One of my favorite days of the year.
This is such a fun event.

This was a crazy time to have it,
right after City Creek,
but we pulled it off!

Last year this is one of the first things I was in charge of at work.
And this year was just as fun!

A day spent bowling and playing with the
Special Olympics of Utah.

It's always fun to hang out with work people in a setting like this.

Thanks everyone for your help.
This was a huge success again.

Over $30,000 raised.

Can't wait until next year!

Elder Bednar



Last night Elder Bednar did a fireside for my stake.
It was wonderful.

I have loved Elder Bednar from day one.
Something about his talks and the spirit and truth that he brings.
He's just amazing.

Sister Bednar spoke for a few minutes first.

Then Elder Bednar got up.
He asked that we not take notes.
He told us that by taking notes you may miss something important,
that we are always thinking we need to write things down
when really we need to just listen.
What we need to remember will stay in our hearts.

He spoke for just a few minutes and then turned it over for questions.

It is not often that one sits at the feet of an Apostle of the Lord and has the opportunity to ask him a question.
We could even text him a question.

Some of the questions were great.
And of course his answers were spot on every single time.

Some of the questions were about dating and marriage, but not all.
One thing I loved that he said was about falling in love,
He said,
'Love is not something you fall into. You create it, you don't find it.'

One other thing I loved was when someone asked what it was like to be one of the 14 men in the room when President Monson was set apart to be the prophet.
He didn't go into all the details,
but his account of that experience was so special and spiritual.

The questions went on for about an hour.
When he said it was time to end I think we were all a little disappointed.
We probably could have gone on forever.

We were so lucky to have this opportunity.
I am thankful for these amazing men in the church.
And I am thankful for the opportunities I have to hear their counsel
and to be strengthened by their testimonies.
It always strengthens mine.

Abraca-Harmons!













We did it!
City Creek Harmons is now open.

The past few weeks have been crazy...

Meetings
Chamber of Commerce breakfast
Lunch for the Presiding Bishopric of the church
Vendor test lunch
Business test lunch
Associate lunches
News
Radio
Associate celebration
Printing
Designing
Running errands
Grand opening week
And still trying to do our normal jobs at the same time

But we made it!
And everything went great!
I was very happy.

I don't think I slept for two weeks before and during grand opening week,
but once we opened the doors,
everyone was smiling.
And by everyone I mean Harmons people.
Customers were even happier!

This is the third store that we've opened since I've been here.
But the first that I've been in this position for.
I was a little nervous.
But we did it!

All the hard work paid off!

the new facebook


I closed my Facebook again.
Actually, I closed it a couple of months ago now.


I think this time it's for good.
Or at least for a good while.


Our ad agency at work has been trying to get us to do a Harmons Pinterest.
Brian has taken over our Facebook,
another reason I was able to close mine.
So I am taking on Pinterest.


I never opened one before.
Well, I did, but it overwhelmed me so I closed it.
Almost as fast as I opened it.


After a meeting a few weeks ago
I braved the pinning world and open my very own Pinterest account.


And I must admit.
I love it!


I have found so many fun things
and some yummy recipes.


It's a great excuse too,
to be on Pinterest at work.


Now onto the daunting task of a Harmons page.
Hopefully we can figure it out.

I've Learned

It's been a crazy few weeks for me.
I think life is finally calming back down.
I've loved it,
but I am ready for a little less stress.

Times like these make me learn a lot.
A lot about me.
A lot about others.
A lot about life.


I love this quote.
I feel like the past few weeks I have learned so many little things.
Things that I have probably known all along,
but sometimes that moment hits when you realize it's true.


I've learned that being busy is the best way to be.
I've learned that life does give you a second chance.
Lucky for me, others give me a second chance as well.
And sometimes a third and fourth.
I've learned that you can only do so much.
And after you've done all you can do,
you have to let go of the rest.
Even if it's hard.
I've learned that people can surprise you.
I've learned that all we really need is a smile on your face.
I've learned that I can do hard things.
I've learned that a thank you makes all the work worth it.
I've learned that things come when the time is right.
I've learned that everything will work out.
I've learned that everyday there is more to learn.

I am excited to see what the future has for me to learn.
Or re learn.

There is so much good in life,

naan


I have been trying to make dinners these days.
Between Christmas, Portland and watching Eliza
that habit fell through the cracks!

But I have been doing so much better again!

Last week I made Indian food.
With homemade naan bread.
It was delicious!
And pretty easy.
My dad even liked it.

super bowl


Last night we had a super bowl party.
I guess you can call it that.

No one watched the super bowl.
I think they turned it on for the last 20 minutes or so.

I was in doing dishes and everyone was sitting in the front room.
I looked over and saw that 90% of the family was in there.
It just made me laugh a little bit.

But we did have some delicious food
and that's what the super bowl is really about, right?!

I forgot to take pictures of everything until it was too late.

I did have 4 sweet potato cupcakes left at the end of the night.
I made those and snicker doodle ones.
So yummy!

It was also Jason's birthday.
It turned out to be a great night!

i'm going to disneyland!!!













Kind of late,
but I still have to post this because it's so funny!

For Christmas my dad gave the kids a trip to Disneyland!
We are not going until September,
but I am WAY excited!
I have not been since I was 12 probably.

We had to come up with a clever way to tell the kids.
So Ben photo shopped their faces into photos of kids in Disneyland.
Some look real, some look real funny!

I framed them and wrapped them
and dad gave them at our Christmas party.
It was so fun to see their faces light up when they finally figured it out.

Laci said to me on our way out,
'are we REALLY going to Disneyland?'
They just couldn't believe it!

It will be so much fun to experience Disney with so many darling little kids!
The way is should be done.

I can't wait!
