it can't get any worse...

“You won’t do it at the right time. You’ll be late. You’ll be early. You’ll get re-routed. You’ll get delayed. You’ll change your mind. You’ll change your heart. It’s not going to turn out the way you thought it would. It will be better.”

Hazel

No wonder Eliza loves grandma Hazel so much!
Who doesn't love an ice cream bar in both hands?!

Dairy Derby 2012

Yesterday was our
Harmons Inaugural Dashing Dairy Derby!

It was a huge success.
Stores could enter cars
and the money raised for each team was donated to MS.

It was a fun event!
Thanks everyone who helped to make it a success!

Looking forward to next year!

busy weekends

Weekends these days fly by.

I keep thinking that I want a weekend that I have nothing to do.
But that never happens.

Then I think,
it's better to be busy doing good things
than to just sit and waste time.
So I am just going to enjoy the ride.

Friday night Ryan and I went on a double date with Kristy and Dan.
It was fun!

We had dinner at CPK, walked around Gateway and then went to see
The Avengers.

I am not a huge super hero lover so the movie wasn't my favorite.
I didn't hate it.
I just didn't love it.
I think Dan was the only one who really liked it.

Saturday started with an early morning bike ride.
It was lovely.
I am loving the bike thing!
{more on that later}

After that I cleaned the house a bit, showered, went to the temple,
went grocery shopping and ran a few other errands.

Then I went to the zoo with Kristy and Eliza.
It was tons of fun!
I had not been to the zoo in a long time,
and seeing how much Eliza loved it was the best part!

She did not love when the train left without her on it though!
Luckily the smile came back when we finally got our turn!

After the zoo we met dad and Josh, Jennifer and Cullen for dinner.
Then Ryan and I went to our stake conference Saturday session.
It was really good.
I saw and talked to the Croslands which is always my favorite.
And then we went to Nielson's.
Ryan hadn't been there yet so it was fun.

Sunday was Regional Conference.
My stake was invited to the Conference Center which was nice.
I hadn't been there for a long time.

After that I just got dinner ready and stuff.
Then Kristy and Ben came early and we went to see the Bountiful chalk art.

It was hot!
But it was fun to see.

Then everyone came over for dinner.

It was a lovely weekend!
The weather has been so nice.
I wish it would stay like this for a few months.

I guess a weekend with nothing to do could be nice.
But a weekend full of fun things is probably better!

Happy Monday!

make Kay's Christmas rolls

15. make Kay's Christmas rolls
December 24, 2012

I have been wanting to learn how to make these rolls for years.

For as long as I can remember,
probably my whole life really,
Kay Ivins has brought us the most delicious sweet rolls on Christmas Eve.

It has always been one of my most looked forward to Christmas treats.

I have asked Kay before for some tips.
But I never really dared to try them.
All I knew was they were hard to make.

Finally,
I decided it was time.
I wanted to make them and give to everyone on Christmas Eve.

I did it!
Kay came down to visit a couple days before
and was happy to give me a few more pointers.
Then on Christmas Eve I decided to just give it a shot.

I must admit,
they turned out perfect!
I was surprised how good they were for my first try.

After knowing what goes in these
I am only allowing them to be a one time a year indulgence.

But I am already excited to make them again this year!

have a picnic

Remember when I made my list
of 30 things to do before I turn 30?

Well, I have actually been doing some of them.
I just have been bad at posting them.

I'm going to get on that...

23. Have a picnic
May 12, 2012

Saturday Ryan and I did just that.
I have told him about my list
and we were going to a concert at the Tabernacle
so he suggested we do a picnic before.

It was a beautiful day!
Perfect for a picnic in the park.
And a great excuse to use my fancy picnic basket.

We enjoyed the picnic and then went to the Tabernacle.
It seriously was the prettiest day.

Summer is in the air!

Race for the Cure 2012

Another year.
This year was…
different.

But life these days is just different.

Some of us met at the house before
and headed out to the new location for the race.
It started and ended at Library Square.
I didn’t love the new venue but I think it was just this year
because Gateway is all torn apart.

Anyway,
the race was bittersweet like always.

I decided to just walk it this year with the family.
I realized why I run it though.
It’s pretty emotional.
I like to focus on the running,
not everything else.

So a few tears were shed
as we walked by
and Jason went and gave a shout out to mom on the speakers
and the Martina McBride song played.
And seeing so many people dressed in pink
honoring someone they know who is or has been affected by breast cancer.

But it was fun to just walk and enjoy and be with the family.

After the race we went to Kneader’s at City Creek
and ate delicious French toast
and ran to a few stores.

It was a fun morning spent with the family, honoring mom.
