an Arizona Thanksgiving

Ryan and I went to Arizona this year for Thanksgiving.
It was lovely!
The weather was great and we had such a good time.

Ryan flew out Monday,
I went Wednesday after work
and we drove home Sunday.

When I got there we went straight to the Botanical Gardens.
It was warm and sunny.
That night we went to dinner at Rustler’s Rooste.
It was fun and had a slide inside!

Thursday was Thanksgiving.
I went for a run.
Then we just hung out at the house all day.
It was so nice!
Ryan’s mom did the entire dinner
and it was delicious!
So much to be thankful for.

Friday Ryan and I went for a bike ride on the tandem.
That was exciting!
I didn't get any pictures; I’ll have to get some form Ryan’s mom.
Then we got ready and went to see the Phoenix Temple.
Later we went and did a little shopping
and went to dinner at the Organ Stop.
A restaurant with this huge fancy organ.
The guy just played all night.
Kind of funny!
Then we went to the Mesa Temple to see the Christmas lights.
It was beautiful!
And seeing Christmas lights in flip flops was a whole new way to go!

Saturday was lazy day.
It was our last day of vacation so we took advantage.
We made gingerbread houses and eventually made it to the pool.
It was such a nice day.

Sunday we woke up, packed up and headed for home.
12 hour drive.
Something I had never done before.
It went great though!
It was a long day but it didn't drag too much.
We stopped a few times for gas,
stopped at Glen Dam
and stopped for dinner.
We had a good time
and made it home safely around 8 that night.

Thanks to the Sorensen’s
for letting us stay and for taking such good care of us!
It was so fun hanging out with them and getting to know them more.
We had a wonderful time and can’t wait to come again!

turkey toss 2012

Every year Harmons does a promotion called
Gift for a Gift.

Harmons raises money to donate turkeys
to the food bank and other places in need.

Then we go and toss them from a semi truck,
pile them up inside,
and families in need come and get them
along with everything else to have a Thanksgiving dinner.

It is always a lot of fun!
And the weather this year was great!
It is so humbling to see thousands of people come
stand in line in the cold just to get some food.
It really made me thankful for all that I have.
And it really gets me ready for the holiday season.

This year,
Harmons and Harmons customers raised enough to donate
8,200 turkeys
which is a lot of turkey!
It is pretty exciting for us.

Be thankful for all you have this season.
And try to help someone in need if you are able.

celebrating

We've been doing a lot of celebrating around here.
Ryan got a job and starts today.

I am excited for this new adventure.

We went and celebrated a couple weeks ago.
We started at Texas Roadhouse,
his favorite place to eat in the world.

Then we went to the Leonardo to see the DaVinci exhibit.
It was really neat to see all the stuff they had there.
Go check it out,
it's here untill January 27th.

It was a fun night celebrating Ryan!

Good luck today!

give thanks

Happy Thanksgiving

I love Thanksgiving.
I just love this time of year.

I have so much to be thankful for.
I always have.
But I feel like this year there is just a little bit more.

Give thanks this day.
There is always something to be thankful for.

The Addams Family

Kristy and I had our first Broadway of the season this week.
It was The Addams Family.

It was fun.
I didn't know what to expect but I thought it was pretty good.

Desert Star

Saturday night we went with Kristy and Ben to
The Desert Star
to see Wicked-er.

It was not exactly what I had expected,
but we had a good time anyway.

We went for some dessert after and then called it a night.

sledding

Sledding was on our winter to do list.
So with all of this snow we thought we better do it now.
We went last night for FHE.

I cannot remember the last time I went sledding!
It was so much fun!

it's great to be eight

Saturday was Avery's baptism.
It was fun to be with all the family
and share our good news.

After the baptism Ryan and I went to the temple and to dinner.
It was a great way to celebrate.
