Easter is a celebration
not only of the Resurrection of Christ
but also of the universal resurrection.
Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ,
all people will be resurrected.
Their bodies and spirits will be reunited,
never to be separated again.

Happy Easter...
Remember why this day is so special

recipe of the day

I decided to post some recipes from time to time.
Things I try and think other people should try.

I will post my own recipes sometimes
or just ones I try from other sources.
There is no rhyme or reason to this.
No special recipe day or weekly theme.
Just sharing good recipes for others.

I have made dinner almost every night for a lot of years now,
so getting married didn't really change anything.
I just get to the point some weeks
where I feel like I am out of ideas.
I don't want Ryan to be bored with the same things.
{that still happens sometimes, fall back meals are easy}

I am lucky that Ryan pretty much eats anything.
I told him when we were dating
that if he ever didn't like something he had to tell me
and I wouldn't be offended.
I just wouldn't want to keep making something that he doesn't like.

He's never told me anything to this day.
So hopefully if there ever is anything he doesn't like he will tell me.

He doesn't love frosting so I've never convinced him to love my cupcakes,
until last weekend when he realized the frosting is so good you can't not like it!

With Pinterest these days it's easy to find and try new recipes.
Unfortunately they don't always turn out like the picture.
I have had some fails.
But I still like trying.
You never know until you try for yourself.

I made homemade beef and broccoli this week and I loved it.
Ryan liked it and even Eliza was there and ate her whole plate full.
{she thought it was chicken and broccoli but she ate it all the same}

I would suggest trying this if you like beef and broccoli.
It's super easy and so good.
And better than a restaurant because you know what's going in it.
My only advice is do what they say and use low sodium soy sauce.
I almost just used regular since I had it
but I am so glad I grabbed low sodium.
It's salty enough with low sodium.

This recipe made enough for Ryan, Eliza and myself.
And lunch for both of us the next day.

Last night for family home evening we dyed Easter eggs.
We had a fun time!
I love starting traditions with Ryan.
I love Easter and the feelings and meaning it brings.
I love spring.

Happy Easter!

Moab 2013

This would have been my 7th year running the
Canyonlands Half Marathon.
This was the first year I gave in and just did the 5 mile.

I always thought people were crazy for going and only doing 5.
And I maybe even made fun of people who would chicken out.

I have done these not trained enough before,
but this year I was not trained at all.
I knew I would hate my life during the race
and even more after.
So I did 5 miles and felt great.

Luckily to be in the 10 year club it doesn't have to be 10 years in a row.
So 4 more times and I'm in!

Ryan and I headed down Friday after work.
We stopped in Provo for some dinner
then drove straight to Moab.
Unfortunately most of our drive was dark.
We got to the camp site
and met up with Jen and Dan and Eric and Rebekah.
We basically all went straight to bed.

Saturday morning we got up early and headed to the buses.
We said our final good lucks to Eric and Reebs who actually did the half
and went to the start.
The race was great and I was happy to see Ryan at the end.

We got showered and headed into town.
We made t-shirts of course and then went and hiked.
We went to Corona Arch which was fun.

We went back to camp and Jen made dutch oven for us.
It was fun to just sit and chat.
After dinner and peach cobbler for dessert we called it a night.

Sunday we just packed up, had breakfast and headed home.

I love Moab!
It was another fun year.
Better than the rest since I got to share it with Ryan.
Maybe one day I will get him to run with me!

the reception

After the luncheon
we got changed and freshened up and met back
at the Grand Ballroom for the reception.
It went really well.
Everything fell right into place and was perfect.
The flowers and the cake were so pretty!
Everything just turned out great!
It was so fun to see people and share this day with them.
I felt so blessed.

It was a perfect day.

I did end up having my coat and phone stolen.
Right out of the brides room.
It was no one we knew.
It's not a big deal,
those girls are much worse off than we are.
That couldn't ruin the most perfect day of my life.

The wedding was perfect other than that one bad moment.
And that moment could never ruin our day.

I am so excited to spend the rest of my life with Ryan!
