beauty and the beast

Last night I went with Kristy, Eliza and grandma to see
Beauty and the Beast.

It was a very amateur play done by junior high kids.
But it was so fun to see how much Eliza loved it.
She clapped at every appropriate moment.
All while holding her Belle doll.

It was a fun little girls night.

Arizona via instagram

We went to Arizona for Memorial Day weekend.
I didn't break out the real camera once.
Probably because we didn't do much,
which was nice.

Lots of pool time.
Hammock time.
Too much driving.

It was a nice little getaway.

I decided next time we are flying though.
It's just not worth it to drive!

Thanks Sorensen's for having us!
We always love visiting!

cooking class

We went to a cooking class at Harmons last week.
It was a Pinterest recipe class.
I had to go for 'work' so it was free which made it even better!

It was so much fun!
Thanks for being my date Ryan!

green thumb

I've always loved flowers
and I've always wanted a garden.

When I was looking for a house I thought
I wanted a house so I can have a yard and a garden.

It took me awhile to realize I didn't want that.
I want it.
Just not now.

Luckily our patio has a good amount of dirt to plant in.
It's shady so no veggies though.
And our front has a little patch too.

Saturday after the race we finally got it all done.
I had done the front a couple weeks ago
but the back seemed daunting.

We had to clear out the old stuff.
Wood chips and that black weed mesh.
It was pretty gross!

Then Ammon took us to J&L to get plants.
We got a fun variety of flowers that grow best in shade.

So far they are doing well!
One in the corner must get too much sun
and gets a little beat up during the day.
But with some water at night by morning it looks good again.

Hopefully they all bloom and look beautiful!
They are perennials too so they'll come back every year.

We also got a little patio table so we sit out there for dinner.

It's all shaded and cooled off by dinner time.
I love it!

Thanks to Ryan and Ammon for helping me!
And Carson, he was such a cute little helper!

race for the cure

Another Race for the Cure under our belts.

I was trying to remember the first year we did this,
I think it was 2005.

My mom was there.
And it was cold.
Like wearing our coats cold.

So that makes this our 9th year.

It's always a bittersweet time.
A bittersweet weekend
with it being the day before Mother's Day.

This is the first time for Ryan.
It was fun to have him with there.

The weather was perfect!
Really warm and sunny.

We all just walked the race.
Just kind of hung out.
I need to talk Ryan into actually running it next year.
{probably won't happen}

After we went to Kneader's at City Creek for their yummy french toast.

It was a great morning spent with my family
and remembering our our mom.

Friday night we went and had a little picnic.
It was a beautiful day
but by the evening it started getting cloudy and a little chilly.
So our picnic was short
but we ended it with some ice cream so you can't go wrong!

Bike MS - I need YOUR help

I am riding in the Harmons MS Bike ride this year and need YOUR help!
Each rider needs to raise $300 dollars to help cure MS.
Multiple sclerosis has been around for centuries, taking away people's ability to feel, see and even move. Since 1993 (almost 20 years), EIGHT new disease-modifying drugs have been made available and dozens more are in the pipeline. Where there was once no hope, there is now huge momentum towards successful treatments and a cure.

I'm making some momentum of my own for the cause by riding in the 27th Annual Bike MS, and I'd love your help in making a difference.

By clicking on the link below, you can make a secure, tax-deductible donation in any amount for me and my team. You can also send a check in by postal mail to the address below--just put my name in the memo field of the check so it gets credited to my team.
National Multiple Sclerosis Society
6364 S. Highland Drive, Suite 101
Salt Lake City, UT 84121

Any amount, great or small, helps to make a difference in the lives of people with MS. I appreciate your support and look forward to letting you know how I do!

P.S. If you would like more information about the National MS Society, how proceeds from Bike MS are used, or the other ways you can get involved in the movement to create a world free of MS, visit

Thank you!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers in my life.

I have some great examples of what a great mother should be.
And I hope to fill their shoes someday.

My mother, of course.
My sister and sister in laws.
Friends.My mother in law.
Aunts and cousins.

And now that being a mother myself seems more like reality
{not soon, but it's more real this year than ever before}
It makes this day with all the wonderful women in my life even sweeter.
And a day to think about my mother a little more.

Happy Mother's Day!

perfect spring weekend

There was something about this weekend that made it perfect.

Maybe it's because I had to work last Saturday
so I didn't really have a weekend.
Or maybe it's because the weather was so nice.
I'm not sure, but it was lovely.

Friday night we ate Plates and Palates and just watched a movie.
Ryan loves a new sandwich they have
and I would never argue a want to eat there!
By Friday we just want to relax.
So it was a nice night.

Saturday we did our regular Saturday stuff around the house.
I also made the kids shirts for the race next week.

Then we went to Temple Square.
I had been wanting to go see the flowers so we finally just did it!
It is so beautiful there in the spring.
I almost like it more than the Christmas lights.
It was so nice to walk around and see all the flowers
and be on the temple grounds.

I love that Ryan takes pictures of everything like I do!

After Temple Square we went to Bruges and ate delicious waffles.
We sat up on the deck and just enjoyed the nice weather.
We went a few times last summer so it was fun to remember that.
And to talk about how we are so glad we don't ever have to date again.
Date other people that is.

We ended the day by watching 'Say Anything' at home.
It was a great night.

Sunday was my mom's birthday.
I wanted to get everyone together and have dessert.
Just so we could all be together.

We had cupcakes and ice cream at my grandma's house.
It was nice just sitting outside on the patio.

The kids decorated their shirts for the race.
It was fun and something I think we'll do every year now.

It was a great weekend.
I am amazed at how these hard days are so much easier
now that I have Ryan by my side.

I am so blessed.
