baby Nora

My dear friend Kristy had her baby Monday.
I went to visit them yesterday.
Kristy, Dan and Nora all are doing great!

Nora is so tiny!
She was only 5 pounds.
She's adorable.

I love her already.

Congrats Kristy and Dan!

the weekend

I love weekends.
I always have
but since we've been married weekends are even better.
I love spending so much time with Ryan.
Without having to go to work.

Friday night we celebrated 6 months of marriage
with some Plates and Palates and then the movie at the Capital.
It was a lot of fun.

Saturday we painted, cleaned and did our usual Saturday things.
Then we had a little BBQ at our house
then headed to Jen and Dan's for one last night of fireworks.
Of course we had delicious treats and homemade ice cream too.

Sunday I was looking through my baby book
and saw something I've seen 1,000 times
but for some reason it just meant more this time.

My mom hand wrote all about my birth and my blessing day.
I am so lucky to have this.
I love to see her handwriting and read her feelings.
I miss her everyday.

Sunday also marked one year of living in my house.
It's funny to think that I lived there alone for 6 months and now with Ryan for 6 months.
I can't believe how fast time flies.
I am excited for the adventure and experiences we will have here.

six months

I know six months isn't a long time
but I can't believe how fast the last six months have gone.

It seems like just yesterday we walked out of the temple
and started this life together.

I love you Ryan!

Pioneer Day

Last night we went to the Bountiful Parade for a little bit.
Then we went to the Bee's game with Jen and Dan.
It was a fireworks night so that was fun.

Today I am working
while Ryan is home.
So not fair!

Happy Pioneer Day!

more boating

We went boating Saturday
with Jason's family and Ammon's family.
It was so much fun!

We got to Pineview around 2.
We had lunch on the beach then boated all day.
We didn't get off the lake until around 8.

It was so fun being with everyone.
The kids all had a blast and are so fun to watch.
They all tried the easy ski and the tube.
The tube is my favorite!
We had some good rides on that.

It was such a nice relaxing day.

We were all hungry by the end of the day
so we stopped at Red Robin for a late dinner on our way home.

Thanks Jason,
we can't wait to go again!

recipe of the day

I have been on the hunt for the perfect real Liege waffle recipe.
I tried one and they tasted like a yeast ball.
Then I tried a second and they were delicious!
They get a little too crispy for me
due to the sugar or waffle iron,
I'm not sure.
But they are very close Ryan tells me.

I think I will still try one or two more.
Just because I am OCD and want the best one!

Anyway, here is the recipe.
It is from allrecipes.com

Ingredients

1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
1 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
3/4 cup lukewarm milk
3 eggs
1 cup melted butter
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups pearl sugar (I just break up sugar cubes)

Directions
  1. Sprinkle the yeast and white sugar over warm milk in a small bowl. The milk should be no more than 100 degrees F (40 degrees C). Let stand for 15 minutes until the yeast softens and begins to form a creamy foam.
  2. Whisk the eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract into the yeast mixture until evenly blended; set aside. Stir together the flour and salt in a separate large bowl, and make a well in the center. Pour the egg mixture into the well, then stir in the flour mixture until a soft dough forms. Cover with a light cloth and let rise in a warm place (80 to 95 degrees F (27 to 35 degrees C)) until doubled in volume, about 30 minutes. Gently mix in the pearl sugar.
  3. Preheat a waffle iron according to manufacturer's instructions.
  4. Place a baseball-size ball of dough on the preheated waffle iron. Cook waffles until golden and crisp, about 2 minutes. Repeat with remaining dough. Allow waffles to cool for 2 to 3 minutes before serving.

Star Valley Half Marathon

Sadly it goes without saying,
I was not ready for this race.
Maybe someday I will be ready for one.
But for now I think this was my last one for a year or two.

Friday night Ryan and I headed to the cabin.
We got there around nine.
Eric and Rebekah joined us.

Saturday Rebekah and I got up early and headed in for the race.
It was perfect weather in the morning.
This course is so beautiful.
I think it is my favorite.
Even above Moab.

Anyway, the race was okay.
The weather was great until my last mile.
It down poured!
I was soaked and freezing when I crossed the finish line.
But happy to see Ryan there waiting.
This is the first half I've done that he's been at.
I grabbed some chocolate milk and we headed to the cabin.
I had a nice long bath to warm up.

Later we had some lunch and then the Rice's went to Jackson
but we decided to just stay around the cabin and relax.
We went to Afton and ate at the fish place.
Then we walked around, got ice cream and drove up Swift Creek.
It was still wet and rainy so we didn't hike to the falls.
We'll do that next time.
We came back and watched a movie
and called it a night.

Sunday we had breakfast
and hung around the cabin a little more before heading home.

It was a fun little weekend away.
It's so nice having the cabin to escape to for a short time.
It's always so quiet and relaxing.
We love it there!

I always love vacations with Ryan.

and have more wildflowers than usual.

Until next year Yellowstone!
