Historical Women's Conference

Saturday was the first ever
General Women's Conference.
It was so fun having women of all ages together,
all across the world.
The sweet young girls brought such a neat spirit.

I went with Kristy to her stake.
We had dinner and then watched the broadcast.

The meeting was lovely.
Each talk brought tears to my eyes.
It was just what I needed to hear.

I can't wait for General Conference this weekend.
It is always such a great reminder and refresher.

I love the fresh feeling it brings
and the desire to be better.

Because we can always be doing a little more to be a little better.

Last night our ward had the opportunity of cleaning the Bountiful temple.
Ryan signed us up and we were excited since we'd never done it.
By 9pm we were wondering why we signed up since it was 9:30pm-midnight.

I am really glad we did!
It was such a neat experience to clean the beautiful temple.

We started in the basement that is mainly used by the workers and I kept thinking
"I can't believe they do this every single night, it's not even dirty!"
We vacuumed and dusted and I felt like it was doing no good.
I kept thinking about it and remembered that this is the most sacred place on earth
and it has to stay perfectly clean.
Every single day.

I can't imagine walking through the doors of the temple
and seeing cob webs on the ceiling or dirt on the ground.

After that they sent Ryan and I to clean the men's locker room.
There was more to do in there and I actually saw our work helping.

I had lots of thoughts about how important it is to keep our lives pure and clean
every single day
and to always be doing the best we can to be worthy to visit the temple and to go often.

I am so glad we had the chance to go and do this!

I thought this day would never come!
It's been a really long week.

I am ready for some sunshine
and some time at home relaxing.

Happy Friday!

recipe of the day

I made this recipe awhile back.
Then I made it again last night and I liked them more the second time.
A friend suggested this recipe to me when we both were new to the pressure cooker.
You could do this without too.
It is from a great pressure cooker blog
And just a plug,
if you don't have a pressure cooker,
get one!
It will change your life!
We were lucky enough to get one from one of my dear friends for our wedding!
I love it so much and still don't even know a fourth of what if can do!
The first time I adapted it and cooked the chicken in the pressure cooker too.
Last night I stuck to the recipe and the were better.

I really like these.
In fact I am eating the left overs right now for lunch!
Ryan didn't love them so I don't think they'll be made too often but I'll probably sneak them in sometimes!

Thai Chicken Burrito

  • 1 cup long grain white rice, rinsed
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups chicken, precooked and diced or shredded
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter (I used chunky)
  • 2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 8 flour tortillas for burritos
  1. Add the rice, 1 1/4 cups water and salt to the pressure cooker pot. Stir. Lock lid in place. Select high pressure and 3 minutes cook time. When timer beeps, turn off pressure cooker and use a quick pressure release.
  2. Add chicken, salsa, chili powder, ginger, peanut butter, teriyaki sauce, 2 tablespoons water and brown sugar to the rice in the cooking pot. Stir.
  3. Select sauté and bring to a boil. Cook 2-3 minutes until rice is tender and chicken is heated through.
  4. Heat tortillas as directed on package. Spoon 1/2 cup chicken filling in the middle of each tortilla and roll up burrito style.
  5. Serve topped with salsa and sour cream.
I had Costco mango salsa I wanted to use since we just can't eat the whole jar before it goes bad.
It made this recipe even more delicious!

Saturday night we went to our second temple
Oquirrh Mountain

I really love this temple.
It's just so beautiful inside and out
and the view leaving the front doors is incredible.

zoo day

On Saturday we went to the Tracy Aviary to use our Pass of All Passes.
We soon learned that they are only good for Tuesday.

We were already out and it was such a beautiful day so we decided to go to the zoo instead.
For only a few dollars more we thought that was a better option.

We got there right at feeding time so we got to see lots of the animals eating.
It was so fun to see!
{Ryan took all the animal pictures so I only have the pictures of us}

The weather was beautiful and it wasn't too busy.
I am so ready for spring!

4th annual

Last Friday was our 3rd annual
Bowl A Palooza.

My favorite work day of the year!

We raised a ton of money and everyone had a great time.
Another huge success!

Thanks to our volunteers and sponsors.
And especially to our athletes!

catch up on scrapbooks

10. catch up on scrapbooks
March 1, 2014

I have had plans to catch up on my scrapbooks for a long time now.
As I was going through pictures to print and finally get started
I realized that this blog has everything I was going to print.
Plus better descriptions and more pictures.

So I decided to print my blog and count that as 'caught up'
and start fresh for 2014.

Hopefully I can stay on top of it!
