Memorial Day weekend

Ryan went camping with his brother for a couple of days last week.
I forgot it was Memorial Day weekend so we didn't have any plans.
Ryan was planning on being home Saturday around 3
so I figured we'd just do something Monday.

I heard a 'hello' Saturday morning at 9am!
They came home early since it was rainy where they were camping.

We decided to pack up and join my dad and Kristy and Ben at the cabin.

We got there Saturday and went straight to Juan's for dinner.

Sunday we just hung out around the cabin.
Then Ryan and I went to have a picnic at Cottonwood Lake.
The road was closed when we got more than half way up
so we hiked a little and picnicked by the river.
Then we had a steak dinner and a fire that night.

Monday we just packed up and headed home.

It was a nice little getaway.
I can't believe summer is here!

Salt Lake temple

Friday night Ryan was camping with his brother.
I didn't make any plans with friends
so I decided to go to the Salt Lake temple after work.

We also went for Kamie's wedding the weekend before
so we made it twice!

Temple Square is so beautiful this time of year.

life via a phone

I have been trying to use my real camera.
Having an iPhone 4 my pictures are not great.

Anyway, here are some of the random phone photos that haven't made it off the phone...

This is Linda, an intern we've had at work for a couple of months.
She wanted to make lunch for our team and it was delicious!

We finally used our Pass of All Passes and went to the Hollywood Connection.

Wedding season is upon us!
This was Scott and Amanda's wedding at the Bountiful temple.
I think it was colder than our wedding day!

On Mother's Day Ryan's cousin gave his homecoming talk.
It was fun to spend the day with the Larsen/Sorensen clan

I am over the Home and General Merchandise department at work.
We were lucky enough to be invited to a BBQ and fireworks show previewing the 2014 fireworks.
We also got a ton of fireworks to take home.
Getting a picture was challenging...

May wedding number two.
Kamie and Troy's at the Salt Lake temple.
It was a beautiful day!

it's better than nothing

I have always loved all kind of music.
I grew up with country music
and still love a lot of it.

Ryan hates country music!
He makes fun of how cheesy the songs are.
Which they are,
but sometimes I like that.

I heard this song on the radio today and loved it.

Sometimes we need to remember our blessings
and not worry about the rest.

Sometimes that's hard.
But like the song says,
it's better than nothing.

race for the cure 2014

Another Race for the Cure in the books.
This was our 9th year.

We had to be quick to get to Ryan's cousins wedding
but we had enough time to walk a little and check out the booths.
We finished right in time for the cold rain to start.

Always a bittersweet day.

Utah Food Bank Night at the Warehouse

Saturday night we got to go to the
Utah Food Bank Night at the Warehouse Gala.
It was so much fun!

Harmons Chef Kimberly was in an iron chef competition
and took first place!
She beat out some awesome chefs so we were all pretty excited for her win.
She even tore up her $500 prize check to donate it back to the Food Bank.

After the competition there was a delicious dinner
and some Hawaiian dancer entertainment.

It was a fun night!

May 5th

'I wish you could have been there
for the sun & the rain & the long, hard hills.
For the sound of a thousand conversations scattered along the road.
For the people laughing & crying & remembering.
But mainly,
I wish you could have been there.'
-Brian Andreas
Happy birthday to the greatest mom a girl could ask for.

I miss you every single day.
I wish you could be here.

make May meaningful

May is such a beautiful month.
It's been a few years since I've been able to see the beauty that it brings.
It's usually a hard month for me.

I've decided this year to enjoy all the beauty that it brings
and be grateful for the good in my life instead of focusing on the bad.

I'm going to make this May a meaningful one.

Spring is a time to renew and be rejuvenated.
When bad things happen it's easy to get down
and focus on the bad but it's helpful to look for the beauty that is this wonderful life.

I have so much to be thankful for.
